Twas the Night before Christmas....
............the day at the track,All racers were ready, for the black top attack.
The Valves were all adjusted in the Rocket with care.
The Flag man was ready to make sure all was fair.
Santa was nestled in his new Fireproof Deist Suit,
Ready to grab the Top Eliminators Low E.T. loot.
When the Rocket was fired, there arose such a clatter,
The local Constabulary rushed in to see what was the matter.
Away to gates I flew like a flash,
Tore open my wallet and handed over the cash.
With a Little old driver,so lively and Quick,
I knew in a moment it was bad ass St. Nick.
As he whistled and shouted,he hit the Olds Switch,
And fired the monster with out any hitch!
As he turned his head and gave me the wink,
he Scorched the pavement reminiscent of Rat Fink.
Flames and smoke and lots of Nitro Fire,
He punched that Olds Rocket, as the tach climbed higher.
He lined up against some yellow old Altered,
Hit the go Pedal and never did Falter.
As the 6-71 began a high pitch whine,
I knew in an instant all would be fine.
He hit the quarter and raced thru the traps,
His competitor fell over and began to lapse.
With a wink of an eye and nod of his chin,
Ol St. Nick and his rocket, came in for the win.
As he grabbed the prize winnings and gathered his loot,
I then realized that this Old Elf was one cool Coot.
He gathered his team and drove out of site.
I heard him exclaim....
"Merry Christmas to all!,.. Let's race tomorrow night!"
Apologies to Clement Moore.

Time Marches On.....
Years Ago... I guess 93 or 94... I got out the airbrush and flamed the Club's mail box...did it just for a laff....never thought about it since.I have not been a member for about 6-7 years.. life goes on.
I ran across these shots and made me ponder.
The custom blends have long since faded, the candy blue is peeling..and the old mail box has seen better days.
Time indeed marches on.

The Roadmates
I was a member for 14 years.A Car Club with a rich history and colorful past...made some good friends and had excellent times.I wish they were still true to there roots..but like everything... times change.
The club was formed in 1956 and is still active.....
Duke Brown was and still is the existing President.I have not talked to Duke in a while and think of him constantly.
here are a few old pics of the days from the racing, hotrodding and life of the Roadmates....

Old Rides
I found some old shots of a coupla various cars I have owned...looking back and remembering good times and some nightmare experiences of these.... the 34 was a very good ride....a cheep build and super reliable.
Suckerbait took me everywhere with almost nil problems. Not a super traditional car..but very reliable...I last saw the 34 in BG Kentucky at the Drag races...still hard charging and holding well for its age.
The hemi A on the other hand was a Black Mariah.... It was a original trade on the 34 and I sure got suckerpunched.
It was where I learned to destest 39 trannys and shitty 97 carbs.
That car was pretty.... but was hexed. Some cars are just that way,... she hated me.
It drove and rode beautiful... but after puring more dollars into a band-aid....I realized a full blow out was needed and I had my truck on the move.
Building another car was out of the question.
But hey... that's life.
